Are You Pro-Black?
by Perfectly Flawed
For many years now the word “Pro-Black” has been expressed as a negative connotation. Even to this day when people speak the term in a labeling manner some black individuals are quick to distance their selves from the word. Is it because the name carries a stereotypical physical identity, such as natural hair or dashikis? Regardless to the narratives that have been in most cases forced upon us, the title itself is far from bad. Look at this way if you are born black then by default you fit into this term. Meaning, everybody that is in the darker shade (African) family supports their race first. This also includes our lighter brothers and sisters as well. Breaking it down further, people that are of Irish, Polish, or Norwegian decent are usually classified as white in the United States. So is it safe to say that they are “Pro-White?”
According to dictionary.com the prefix pro means in favor of an idea or party to say the least. Getting more technical, it also coordinates with the word professional. Therefore, if you love and care for your people then you shouldn’t be ashamed to call yourself Pro-Black. Taking the focus off of race for just a moment, if football fans cheer for Dallas over the 49’ers then they are Pro-Cowboys. Now some may ask what does football teams have to do with race. Well, if you can applaud, represent, and go hard for a manufactured group then what about your own? Being born to a team of various skin colors, hair textures, and features for some of us is not good enough to claim.
Sadly, we have been brainwashed into thinking that every other team is better than ours. The deception is so strong that there is always a large number in the melanoid population rooting for or in favor of non-blacks being on top. Obviously wanting to see people that look like you win at this game called “Life” should be a no brainer.
However, not only do black people have to fight the enemy which is white supremacy but fellow comrades in the struggle. What may have started off as an assimilation tactic for African Americans to survive within an oppressive system has become a lifestyle. Instead of the overall goal being to move forward as a collective group, we tend to forget the past and individualize. You know the saying, I got mine forget yours. In a perfect world black people would have enough self-love to not fight over colorism, the scrapes massa throws, or who is doing better. It doesn’t matter if you are light skin, dark skin, or rocking your natural beautiful hair. What is important is standing up for your people and having their back. So going back to the question at hand, are you Pro-Black?
ManKind X The Deity Complex - MANKIND: JUNETEENTH (1820 - 1920)
Without a doubt this is the most important project of 2017 and beyond for a variety of reasons first being is survival. Now for those wondering what I meant by that is that it is impossible for a people to survive without knowing their history and the ability to recognize behavior patterns along with enemy tactics all of which is included in this album over jazzy beats. Mankind & The Deity Complex summed up the entirety of the black experience in America in one album and I feel so strongly about this that I believe it should be taught in school.
I'm not going to express how this makes me feel like how I felt when I first heard Little Brother - The Listening, the harsh truth of N.O.A.H. or even my frustration with seeing people who look like me being shot like dogs and the killers are always treated like they are as pure as the driven snow. Well this album pisses on that snow and it's about damn time.
Now if your curious about the power contained in this album look below and press play. If you fresh off of fathers day and want to explain difficult topics with your children press play. If you want to be apart of the solution and not a part of the problem press play. And one more thing too. This album is free to download but I ask of you to support them financially. That "black dollar" is going to be a big solution to the mess we found ourselves in. - ZEROSYSTEM
I hate Final Fantasy XIII with a passion but this time I'm going to overlook that because the story told here is greater than anything that Daisuke Watanabe could have ever dreamed of.
DJ DAX brings us without a doubt one of the most well thought out concept albums of this year with #FutureFantasy. Sampling the Final Fantasy XIII soundtrack, DJ DAX aggressive rhyme style and extremely well thought out lyrics takes us into a personal journey of a man balancing his place in this world with his faith and his relationships with the characters of FFXIII. One song in particular that impressed me was "Struck" which starts off as a love ballad to Lightning that's so well done that I'm starting to believe she's real with mellow production from JairTheShadow & DJ-KGIZZY it strikes the perfect tone. "Azure Soul" wouldn't be out of place in any upscale lounge with a laid back groove while speaking on his one true love.
Though the use of Traditional Boom Bap, Electro, Trap and Lounge DJ DAX weaves a complete story that any fan of hip-hop or even FFXIII could enjoy as the Main Character finally succeeds and for a bonus boss battle get to fight Sephiroth.

I can proudly attest that there are days that you wake up as an artist and want to do something different, something a bit unsafe because you don't know how your fans would react to a departure from the norm. POLAR & CINTURON NEGRO have pretty much made that the norm in their musical journey as Maquinistas and the Arouse EP proves that different is better.
Part Hip-Hop and part Electronica, Arouse uses a blend of 70's Sci-fi & Porn samples to give you the sensation that you've just been abducted by beautiful hip hugger & bell bottom wearing aliens with dank beats in the background. One of my favorite tracks starts in @6:42 (the EP is just one track) that is simply indescribable. To be truthful trying to describe this EP is like giving a description to a blind man what the color blue looks like. It just has to be experienced.

While listening to this album I'm reminded that I know this cat. While that isn't entirely relevant to this post (because I will refuse to do a review if the release is not up to par) it reminds me that every major artist had an starting point. Imagine the guys that knew Nas or Black Thought before they gained fame. That's the thought process that I'm using to write this review.
The very thought that you are put into the mindset of an midnight watching Adult Swim with an album filled with Vaporwave, Lo-FI and Boom Bap is quite an undertaking with nary a dull moment to be had. RealVenom starts off with "True Intro" which is an chin check for any emcee listening. Rapid fire rhymes over an piano loop that will have anyone rewinding to catch the last verse with that "did he just say that" look on their face. Another stand out track and my personal favorite is "Whatever Happens, Happens........" with production by Canis Major which is a thought provoking ballad about survival in this day in age with a Cowboy Bebop backdrop that really hits home with anyone that has been pushed to the limit. If I didn't know any better I would have sworn this album came out int '96.

If I had to sum up all of my dreams and then add a Vaporwave overlay this would be the result. You can't help but to be filled with life listening to the lyrics of Lé Real 現 while vibing to the potent production of Macross 82-99, Contact Lens, REVERB LITE & other notables that reads like a who's who of the Vaporwave world.
You would be hard pressed to stop this recording only to be reminded of the crushing corporate driven diet we live off of chucking back Big Macs and drinking Capri Suns. Damn, thanks Vaporwave...........
You can listen to what's probably one of the best releases of 2016 here.
After taking these herbs if you start to loose feeling in your arms and legs then it's the good stuff. After listening to this tape the colors may seem brighter and the food may taste that much better, but it only last while the tape is rolling. I spoke with Erotnas about an upcoming project a while ago and he told me about his past listening to old reggae shows and such while recording them with his handy tape deck. Well after purchasing this cassette I have to say the feeling has been fully translated to this release. I actually felt like I was listening to something that was supposed to be long forgotten and forbidden, part of the reason why I love lo-fi music. This tape is filled with extremely rare clips of reggae shows all with the knowledge that aside from this release you'll never hear the majority of this music again.
The tape is here http://erotnas.bandcamp.com and you can listen to the teaser here.

Since this is my own project I can't say anything about it other than give it a listen if you wish to have an MIND BENDING EXPERIENCE THE LIKES OF WHICH WILL MAKE EVERY BIT OF PLEASURE IN YOUR LIFE SEEM PALE IN COMPARISON.
This is The Shameless Review Blog and it seems my entire life has lead to this which feels me with a profound sadness. Dammit this isn't fair. I could have actually been someone in life but I refused to get in the damn robot *sniff, sniff*.
