While listening to this album I'm reminded that I know this cat. While that isn't entirely relevant to this post (because I will refuse to do a review if the release is not up to par) it reminds me that every major artist had an starting point. Imagine the guys that knew Nas or Black Thought before they gained fame. That's the thought process that I'm using to write this review. The very thought that you are put into the mindset of an midnight watching Adult Swim with an album filled with Vaporwave, Lo-FI and Boom Bap is quite an undertaking with nary a dull moment to be had. RealVenom starts off with "True Intro" which is an chin check for any emcee listening. Rapid fire rhymes over an piano loop that will have anyone rewinding to catch the last verse with that "did he just say that" look on their face. Another stand out track and my personal favorite is "Whatever Happens, Happens........" with production by Canis Major which is a thought provoking ballad about survival in this day in age with a Cowboy Bebop backdrop that really hits home with anyone that has been pushed to the limit. If I didn't know any better I would have sworn this album came out int '96. You can check out the EP here.
