ManKind X The Deity Complex - MANKIND: JUNETEENTH (1820 - 1920)
Without a doubt this is the most important project of 2017 and beyond for a variety of reasons first being is survival. Now for those wondering what I meant by that is that it is impossible for a people to survive without knowing their history and the ability to recognize behavior patterns along with enemy tactics all of which is included in this album over jazzy beats. Mankind & The Deity Complex summed up the entirety of the black experience in America in one album and I feel so strongly about this that I believe it should be taught in school.
I'm not going to express how this makes me feel like how I felt when I first heard Little Brother - The Listening, the harsh truth of N.O.A.H. or even my frustration with seeing people who look like me being shot like dogs and the killers are always treated like they are as pure as the driven snow. Well this album pisses on that snow and it's about damn time. Now if your curious about the power contained in this album look below and press play. If you fresh off of fathers day and want to explain difficult topics with your children press play. If you want to be apart of the solution and not a part of the problem press play. And one more thing too. This album is free to download but I ask of you to support them financially. That "black dollar" is going to be a big solution to the mess we found ourselves in. - ZEROSYSTEM
I hate Final Fantasy XIII with a passion but this time I'm going to overlook that because the story told here is greater than anything that Daisuke Watanabe could have ever dreamed of.
DJ DAX brings us without a doubt one of the most well thought out concept albums of this year with #FutureFantasy. Sampling the Final Fantasy XIII soundtrack, DJ DAX aggressive rhyme style and extremely well thought out lyrics takes us into a personal journey of a man balancing his place in this world with his faith and his relationships with the characters of FFXIII. One song in particular that impressed me was "Struck" which starts off as a love ballad to Lightning that's so well done that I'm starting to believe she's real with mellow production from JairTheShadow & DJ-KGIZZY it strikes the perfect tone. "Azure Soul" wouldn't be out of place in any upscale lounge with a laid back groove while speaking on his one true love. Though the use of Traditional Boom Bap, Electro, Trap and Lounge DJ DAX weaves a complete story that any fan of hip-hop or even FFXIII could enjoy as the Main Character finally succeeds and for a bonus boss battle get to fight Sephiroth. While listening to this album I'm reminded that I know this cat. While that isn't entirely relevant to this post (because I will refuse to do a review if the release is not up to par) it reminds me that every major artist had an starting point. Imagine the guys that knew Nas or Black Thought before they gained fame. That's the thought process that I'm using to write this review. The very thought that you are put into the mindset of an midnight watching Adult Swim with an album filled with Vaporwave, Lo-FI and Boom Bap is quite an undertaking with nary a dull moment to be had. RealVenom starts off with "True Intro" which is an chin check for any emcee listening. Rapid fire rhymes over an piano loop that will have anyone rewinding to catch the last verse with that "did he just say that" look on their face. Another stand out track and my personal favorite is "Whatever Happens, Happens........" with production by Canis Major which is a thought provoking ballad about survival in this day in age with a Cowboy Bebop backdrop that really hits home with anyone that has been pushed to the limit. If I didn't know any better I would have sworn this album came out int '96. You can check out the EP here.
