Uppity - Interview with Dwayne "Midnight" Coleman; Co-creator of Soulaan Ethnonym
Soulaan is a term that refers to the distinct culture, history, and knowledge of Black Americans before and after colonization in America, that means we do recognize our pre-colombian existence in America, while Soulaani is a language in development with the creators and associates. You wanna know what Soulaan means plain and simple? Not an immigrant. Soulaan is delineation.

In this article, W.E.B. DuBois firmly rebuffs the previous article written by Booker T. Washington.
Uppity - The Negro Problem: Commentary on W.E.B. Dubois article rebuffing Booker T. Washington
"The Negro Problem" is a compilation of articles written by Booker T. Washington, W.E.B. Dubois several significant others on the topic of how to advance the foundational Black American. In this video, I discuss some friction I observed in the reading between the two aforementioned pioneers of Black American culture. Extrapolating what I believe to be the issues between them, as well as the commonalities that in reality outweigh their differences.
Uppity - Know one from the other.
A Tether is a racially black individual who attaches him or herself undeserving to the achievements of Black Americans, while not belonging genealogically to the group. These are Black people with lineage from other nations than our own, who take credit for cultural innovations like Hip Hop, HBCU band culture, and all other aspects of Indigenous Black American culture. Those who display our culture while denying it exists. Kai Cenat, the streamer, is a perfect example of what a tether is. Their non Black equivalent is called a "culture vulture". It is my position that instead of painting everyone with one brush, we should engage people where they are, when applicable. There are many African and Caribbean people who support delineation; the sins of the father should not be visited upon them. In other words, we should not be online drilling them for what someone else in their group said to us, when that is not how they feel toward us, as an individual. We welcome outside support for delineation wherever it comes from, and condemn its opposite wherever it is found, even if it is found among members of our own group as Foundational Black Americans.
Uppity - FBA progress REVERSED by Haitian Chicago Mayor
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has experienced a significant loss of favor among Black American constituents, leading to historically low approval ratings and calls for his recall. This dissatisfaction stems from several key issues, including rising crime rates, the handling of the migrant crisis, and his relationship with the teachers' union.
Uppity - When “Black” is too broad a category.
Delineation was never supposed to be anti diaspora or offensive. It's a deliberate disaggregation of information. Black is all too broad a term. African American, in itself is an arbitrary term that has cursed our community because anyone can claim it. Other groups have always delineated and are naturally tribal. Black Americans are just beginning to follow suit. |
