Kiezin - Hot Rod Collection
by ZEROSYSTEM
This surprised the hell out to me.
It's been a while since I really sat back an listened to hip-hop because I've seen it all and played it all in the underground scene but while I was scrolling down my timeline on facebook, Kiezin's album came up. I was curious as to what the brother had been up to lately so I hit play on the BandCamp link and was instantly transported back to the year 2003. Do you remember what it was like when you first heard 9th Wonder's mixtape 9th Invented the Remix before Little Brother dropped? Yeah that feeling right there family. Just when you thought it was all over someone comes along and breathes life back into the culture. Like a deer caught in the headlights I was frozen in a time in which I never thought I would visit again with the smokey midnight sound of Digital Dash playing in the background (while remembering I have a 64' Rivera that I need to put in the shop) Sluggaz with it's dreamlike Harp sample over southern slang, Caught where he channels his inner Dilla and the 80's Miami flare on AMG's, this album is the embodiment of everything that is perfect within hip-hop. With a mix of Lo-Fi, 90's acapellas and Jazz laden beats Kiezin has proved that there are still artist today that can make a man dream dreams again just by hearing their sound and it also reminds me that I got a hot rod or two that I need to put in the shop. Please Purchase Kiezin - Hot Rod Collection on BandCamp.
